The Gascoigne gallery are showcasing six successful and very different landscape artists. Their work conveys the essence and atmosphere of landscape rather than describing every minute detail.
John Langton
Born in York in 1932. He trained at the Schools of Art in York and Guildford 1949-53. John works in oil on canvas, building the picture's structure from his fascination with shadows. He does not describe; he seeks to discover and create equivalents.

Stephen Lennon
Stephen's unique view of the landscape is based on his early impressions of the hills as viewed from the classroom window as a boy, to later excursions made by orange Pennine bus into the dales in the late sixties. His love of light and the drama of the elements are clearly at the roots of his work.

Ross Loveday
A self-taught artist who lives and works in Hartfordshire, his work is a portrayal of Mother Nature's vulnerable and forcible character; the silent beauty of untamed coastlines against ominous backdrops of rising tides and thunder-filled skies - an expression of both terror and exhilaration.

Tony Foster
Tony studied painting at St. Albans and Ravensbourne schools of Art. Tony has spent much time at his home on the North Norfolk coast "My work is now involved with exploring the possibilities of interpreting my feelings for this area without attempting a literal representation."

Clare Money
Clare's work has focused on the natural environment. Land and seascapes from all over England have provided her with inspiration. Often working directly outside, Clare believes that the full experience of the elements is central to capturing the atmosphere of a certain place.
