Two of the most successful young landscape artists combine in an exhilarating exhibition of their work. The gallery has worked with both these young artists for some time as their careers have developed.

James is an award winning artist based in Bolton. Since graduating with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Art from Leeds Metropolitan University, James' continued success has brought him several regional and national awards.

James' new body of work reflects his commitment to these themes. Amongst James' familiar paintings you will notice a number of seascapes, these were undertaken as part of a prestigious commission to produce a series of works for the cruise liner "Arcadia". Also included are some monochrome paintings which have become increasingly important to James, as their influence ripples through every aspect of his work.

Emerson - Yorkshire born - is now based in Pateley Bridge. Since graduating in 1994 with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Art from Leeds Metropolitan University, Emerson has enjoyed a growing reputation for a fresh, honest and uncontrived approach to his work. With his roots firmly in the British landscape tradition, Emerson's landscapes reflect his obvious passion for this vast and complex subject

The Yorkshireman is often asked why he does not travel to places like France and Italy to paint his landscapes, but Emerson is happiest at home. Almost all of his work is grounded in his home county, with a lot completed within a stones throw from his home in the heart of Nidderdale. "I just love the fact that I am constantly surrounded by the landscape that inspires me so I don't really see the need to travel further afield. The important thing to me when I am painting a landscape is that I feel an emotional connection with it and Yorkshire is the place to which I have that connection".
